Dimensions and Tolerances of the Operating Side Intermediate Roller Bearing Block

Bearing Installation Holes:
The bearing installation holes are precision-machined according to the bearing type and the requirements of the rolling mill. For bearings such as TQO series four-row tapered roller bearings, the applicable fit tolerance is typically H6 for the inner hole or js6 for the outer diameter, subject to the bearing manufacturer's specifications and the actual assembly design.

Surface Roughness:
The Ra of the bearing mating surface is ≤ 0.8 μm, while the Ra of the non-mating surface is ≤ 3.2 μm. Controlled surface roughness helps provide a stable bearing fit and reliable contact condition.

Positioning Accuracy:
The roundness of the bearing bore is ≤ 0.008 mm, and the coaxiality is ≤ 0.015 mm/500 mm. The fit clearance with the roll neck is 0.05-0.10 mm, considering thermal expansion and actual operating conditions.

CNC Machining Programming

CNC machining programs are verified through PC-based simulation before production. Tool paths and machining sequences are optimized to improve dimensional accuracy, reduce unnecessary tool movement, and maintain consistent machining quality. Proper process planning also helps produce clean and uniform machined surfaces on the bearing block.

High-Precision Processing Equipment

CNC horizontal machining centers, CNC vertical machining centers, five-axis machining centers, and other high-precision equipment are selected according to the size and structural complexity of the operating side intermediate roller bearing block. These machines provide the required positioning accuracy and machining capability for large bearing bores, mounting surfaces, bolt holes, and complex structural features.

Manufacturing and Assembly Process

The bearing holes are machined on CNC boring and milling machines to IT6-level accuracy where specified. Honing or grinding can be used for final finishing to achieve the required dimensional accuracy and surface quality. The positional error of critical bolt holes is ≤ 0.05 mm to ensure accurate connection with the rolling mill frame.

Assembly Requirements:

Bearing preload is adjusted according to the bearing manufacturer's specifications and the actual rolling mill design. For applicable bearing arrangements, the axial preload may be specified at 8-12 kN. Hydraulic nuts can be used during installation to provide controlled assembly force and avoid impact loads on the bearing, roll neck, and bearing block.

Quality Process Control

Quality control is implemented throughout the manufacturing process, from blank preparation and flaw detection to heat treatment, CNC machining, finishing, and final inspection. Each process is inspected and approved before the workpiece proceeds to the next manufacturing stage.

Inspection and Testing

Strict inspection and testing procedures are used to verify the quality of each operating side intermediate roller bearing block. Quality documentation can include chemical composition analysis, heat treatment records, flaw detection reports, dimensional tolerance inspection, and geometric tolerance inspection. Coordinate measuring machines and other precision inspection instruments are used to verify critical machining dimensions, bore geometry, hole positions, and shape and position tolerances. All inspection records are maintained for full manufacturing traceability.

Lubrication and Sealing of the Intermediate Roller Bearing Block

Lubrication System:

The intermediate roller bearing can use concentrated thin-oil lubrication with a pressure of 0.3-0.5 MPa and a flow rate of 30-50 L/min, or oil-air lubrication with an oil delivery rate of approximately 5-10 drops/min, according to the equipment and bearing requirements. The recommended lubricating oil viscosity is ISO VG 68-100 at 40°C, subject to the bearing operating speed, load, temperature, and lubrication system.

Sealing Design:

A combined sealing structure consisting of a labyrinth seal and spring-reinforced lip seal can be used to reduce the entry of water, dust, rolling coolant, and metal particles. The applicable cleanliness requirement can be specified as ISO 4406 18/16/13. Sealing materials include high-temperature-resistant fluororubber (FKM) or polyurethane (PU), selected according to the operating temperature, lubricant, coolant, and wear conditions.
